Phillippe Desarzens was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1965. He studied graphic design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. After graduation, he worked as a freelance graphic designer and art director for various advertising agencies in Switzerland and Germany. In 1993, he founded his design studio, Desarzens Design, in Zurich.
Desarzens has created several other typefaces, including Montblanc (1995), an angular sans-serif inspired by the work of early 20th century German typeface designer Ernst Keller; and Dax (1998), a humanist sans-serif with softer, more rounded edges.
